Hey there, it’s Jay from Vision Miner, and today I’m going to walk you through the process of leveling the build plate on a Formlabs Form 3D printer. Ensuring your build plate is properly leveled is crucial for achieving high-quality 3D prints. So, let’s get started!
What You’ll Need
Before we dive into the leveling process, make sure you have the following items ready:
- A glove (to protect your hand from the heat)
- A 0.2mm leveling card (included with the Form 3D printer)
Step-by-Step Guide to Leveling the Build Plate
Follow these steps to ensure your build plate is perfectly level:
Step 1: Access the Leveling Menu
On the right-hand side of the Form 3D printer, find and select “Material.” Then, choose “Manual Step 1: Leveling.”
Step 2: Tighten All Screws
Make sure all the screws are tightened all the way. Turn them clockwise to bring the glass down. This step prepares the build plate for leveling.
Step 3: Wait for Temperature
Allow the machine to heat up. It’s essential to have the build plate at the correct temperature before leveling.
Step 4: Use the Leveling Card
Take the 0.2mm leveling card that comes with the Form 3D printer. Press “Next” on the printer, and the build plate will move up. Use the leveling card to measure the gap.
Step 5: Level Each Nozzle
Level the nozzles one by one. Start with the left extruder and adjust the knob. You should feel a little resistance but not too much. Follow this sequence: front left, front right, back right, and far left.
Step 6: Ensure No Filament in Nozzles
During leveling, make sure there’s no filament in the nozzles. Any remaining filament can cause clogs and affect the leveling process.
Step 7: Repeat if Necessary
If the printer prompts you to redo the leveling, follow the steps until it’s satisfied with the calibration.
Step 8: Finish the Process
Once you’ve successfully leveled all the nozzles, click “Finish” to complete the process.
There you have it! Your Formlabs Form 3D printer’s build plate is now perfectly leveled and ready for precise 3D printing. Following these steps ensures your prints will be of the highest quality.
