Welcome, everyone! Today, we’re going to demonstrate how to use the Einscan Pro HD for 3D scanning, particularly for a camera lens. We offer a range of high-quality 3D scanners, available at VisionMinder.com, so feel free to explore our options. We’ll walk you through the workflow, provide some useful tips and tricks, and show you how to tackle challenging objects like this camera lens.
Getting Started
For this scan, we’ll utilize the turntable. Simply place your object in the center, open the software, and select “Fixed Scan” without texture since we don’t have the color pack installed at the moment. To ensure a successful scan, use the turntable and the coated targets, those little marks around the object. We’ll perform eight different angles to strike a balance and optimize the results. Additionally, you can choose to do an HDR scan, which involves multiple exposures for improved accuracy.
It’s important to note that our object is challenging – it’s black, silver, and reflective, which can make scanning difficult. The reflective lens and the black parts absorb light, making it challenging for the scanner to capture the necessary data.
Now, let’s start the scan and see the initial results. As expected, it’s struggling to pick up much detail, especially on the reflective lens and dark areas.
Enhancing Scanning Results with A-SUB Spray
Here’s where A-SUB spray comes to the rescue. A-SUB is a magic solution that evaporates quickly without leaving any residue. A simple application of this spray can work wonders. Just a quick squirt, and you’re ready to go. The spray provides a matte finish, helping the projected light to reflect more easily.
We have various A-SUB spray options, including transparent, orange, white cap, and green. The orange, in particular, is slightly thinner and effective for enhancing scans. We also have A-SUB yellow, designed for metrology-grade scanning, with a thickness of less than one micron.
With A-SUB applied, we can rescan the object, and this time, it should have no trouble capturing all the details.
Observing the Difference
Take a look at the dramatic improvement in the scan results with A-SUB. The accuracy of the Einscan Pro HD, with a point distance resolution of about 0.2 millimeters, is already impressive. Most industrial projects don’t require higher resolution than this. Remember, accuracy remains consistent no matter the resolution setting, making it incredibly efficient.
After processing, you can clearly see the detailed point clouds and the enhanced results. A-SUB can be a game-changer when dealing with challenging objects, making your scanner work effectively again.
