Welcome to the world of 3D printing! In this step-by-step guide, we’ll show you how to load filament into the INTAMSYS Funmat HT 3D printer and prepare for your very first successful print. Let’s dive in!

Step 1: Material Selection

Before you start, it’s crucial to ensure that you have the right material selected for your print. On the Funmat HT’s touch screen, navigate to the material selection menu. In this case, we’ll be using PEEK, a high-performance thermoplastic known for its strength and toughness. Make the selection to match your material.

Step 2: Preheat the Extruder

Next, let’s get the extruder ready by preheating it to the operating temperature. For PEEK, that’s around 400 degrees Celsius. This step ensures that the material will flow smoothly during the printing process. While the extruder is heating up, make sure to take advantage of the “low filament alarm” feature. It’s a lifesaver that prevents running out of material during long prints.

Step 3: Load the Filament

Now, let’s load the filament into the 3D printer. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Hold the filament spool firmly and cut about a foot of filament from it. Be sure to prevent it from unraveling.
  2. Insert the filament into the filament chamber.
  3. Feed the filament through the hole and past the filament alarm, ensuring it’s resting against it.
  4. Push the filament up until you feel it stops. The filament should be straightened out for better feeding.

Step 4: Prime the Nozzle

With the filament loaded, the next step is to prime the nozzle. You should see the filament starting to ooze out. You can manually feed more filament if needed. Once you’ve primed the nozzle, you’re ready to move on to your first print.

Step 5: Start Printing

Close the filament chamber and the tray, and you’re all set to begin your 3D printing journey. Now, all that’s left to do is to prepare your 3D model, save it to an SD card, and insert it into the printer to start your very first print.
